Work Day: Yellow Flag Iris at Baikie Island

Friday, September 4th, 10am to 2pm:

Do you want to make a difference to the ecology of the Campbell River estuary?

Come out to this joint action between Greenways Land Trust and the Nature Conservancy of Canada at the beautiful Baikie Island Nature Reserve to help remove Yellow Flag Iris (Iris pseudacorus) in the Campbell River Estuary.  Yellow Flag Iris is a rapidly spreading invasive species that displaces native vegetation, and reduces habitat needed for waterfowl and important fish species such as salmon that spawn up the Campbell River.

Work will be in the inter-tidal zone, so volunteers should wear gumboots and dress for the weather. We will meet at the big log at 10am. All equipment provided. For questions contact Libby on 250-287-3785 or email
